Tourism and preserving our environment must work in tandem. Based on this belief, we have been focusing on environmentally friendly and sustainable solutions for many years at Hotel Gemma – because green holidays are the best holidays. Separating waste and using regional ingredients are standard practices for us.
A wonderfully cosy warmth welcomes you inside your room. This heat comes from the Hirschegg biomass heating plant, powered by wood chips from the forests of Kleinwalsertal and the neighbouring Allgäu region. Back in 2010, we were among the first customers of the heating plant – today, over 200 businesses in Hirschegg and Riezlern are supplied with environmentally friendly heat. Compared to the oil heating system used in the past, we now save 7.48 tonnes of CO2 per year – and you can enjoy fresh mountain air in Kleinwalsertal.
The best way to save energy is to avoid using it. That’s why we use energy-saving lamps throughout the hotel. Where possible, we also use the most efficient LED technology, for example, in the corridors and restaurant lighting and the underwater lights in the pool. In addition, all our rooms have a master switch so that you can help us in our efforts to be sustainable. We kindly ask you to turn the power off in your room when you leave. Don’t worry, the mini-fridge will continue to run.
At the washbasins, for example, we use water-saving fixtures to conserve the valuable resource of water.
We would be more than happy to provide you with support for your environmentally friendly journey to our hotel by picking you up at Oberstdorf train station free of charge for stays of at least three days. With the Allgäu-Walser Card, which you will receive free of charge as our guest, you can travel on many modes of public transport and mountain cable cars for no additional fee! You can also charge your electric vehicle with low costs at our complimentary e-charging station.
